Dr John Kitchen will play on the restored Yaniewicz and Green square piano, which has been placed at Polish House by the “The Friends of Felix Yaniewicz”
John Kitchen is a harpsichordist, organist, pianist, continuo player, accompanist, lecturer, writer, reviewer, adjudicator and recording artist. He was a Senior Lecturer in Music in the University of Edinburgh, where for many years he was a colleague of the late Dr Colin Kingsley. John retired from this position in 2014, but retains the post of University Organist. He is also Director of Music at Old Saint Paul’s Episcopal Church, and Edinburgh City Organist with performing and curatorial duties at the Usher Hall. He is President of the Incorporated Association of Organists and has organised their Festival which is taking place in Edinburgh in July.
John has made many CD recordings on harpsichords, early pianos, organs and clavichords, and he has recorded many of the historic keyboard instruments in the Russell Collection at St Cecilia’s Hall for the Edinburgh-based label Delphian Records.
